Weyburn is celebrating Saskatchewan's 100th Birthday with a Homecoming - August 1 to 7, 2005.  Help us make this the biggest party Weyburn has seen in 100 years!

Suggestions:

  • throw huge parties in the bars, or host a cabaret at the curling rink
  • a petting zoo, other activities during the day for the children and then a street dance at night or hypnotist
  • honor the 1972 Weyburn Canadians Fastball team as Canadian Champions (they were the smallest center ever to win a Senior AA Men's Dominion Championship, this is one of the biggest accomplishments of any Weyburn Sports team...and they did it "on the road")
  • it would be nice to have a picnic in the park (Riverside park) which would include food venues and live musical entertainment
  • host a big street party for everyone (adults and kids) with a DJ and a bar for the adults, you can have food and Dance all night
  • add "tours" of the Courthouse and its history
  • "hotdogs" in the park - it could be a gathering point at a certain time so you know when to go to bump into people you might know.
  • plan a gala picture to be taken at a certain time of the visitors who came
  • arrange to have paddle boats and canoes available in River Park available so visitors can get a different view of the city  (the river way is beautiful)
  • plan a walk around the grounds at Psych centre and coffee and cookies afterward
  • have a bus available to take visitors to Nickel Lake and arrange a welcoming site with coffee near the ball grounds and maybe some ball games
  • post on the webiste an itinerary so we know where to go and when to bump into our friends
  • set up a rental of battery powered scooters so those that can't walk can experience the Tatagwa at least part of the way
  • having St. Dominic Savio School host an open house with visiting of former students and staff
  • have a skateboard demonstration at the new skateboard park
  • I would suggest hosting a street party like the one that was held during the week of the Summer Games. Really seemed to bring the community together for a great celebration in the downtown area!
  • I would like to see St. Dominic Savio School open for a few hours each day during the Homecoming Week.I am sure there are many former students who would love to visit the school.
  • I was so excited to see that you are having a homecoming this year! For those of us whose grandparents came from Weyburn, it would be nice to have that person's name listed on a nametag with our own so people can connect us as (in my case, and I am sure many others too) the names are different
  • Several of my ancestors are buried in the cemetery there, and am trying my best to make arrangements to come & do some family history work at the same time.
  • Have bands and activities in River Park with hotdogs and drinks for everyone and end the day with fire works
  • Skateboard demonstartion in the new skateboard park (hope its completed by then)
  • I would suggest hosting a street party like the one that was held during the week of the Summer Games. Really seemed to bring the community together for a great celebration in the downtown area!
