"WHEN FIRE STRIKES: GET OUT! STAY OUT!"

The safest place to be when a fire occurs in our home is outside of the home.  The only way to ensure the safety of you and your family is to ensure they have a safe way out of the home and everyone has practiced their escape plan.  Hold a fire drill in your home this week, practice escaping and then have a meeting place outside where you can all make sure that everyone has gotten out safely.

Call the fire department from a neighbour’s phone.  DO NOT go back in the house under any circumstances.  If someone is trapped, be prepared to tell the firefighters where that person may be in the house.  Only the firefighters are equipped and trained to enter the super heated, smoke filled atmosphere of the building and effect a rescue.
