Until 1907 the City of Weyburn, (not having City status yet) was governed by committees. Prior to 1908 the Water, Fire and Lighting Committee was responsible for what, in 1908, became the Weyburn Fire Brigade. Chief Gallagher appears to have been the only fire chief prior to 1918. In 1918 Chief George Whincup took over holding the position until his death at age 47 in 1937. If you have any historical information pertaining to the Weyburn Fire Department please contact the Fire Chief.
We would like to thank Mr. Keith Ewart of Saskatoon, who sent us pictures of the Royal Hotel Fire in the early 1950s and Mr. Ron Kittleson of Weyburn who has also sent us pictures.
All original photographs and/or documents will be returned to their owners. If you wish to send us scanned pictures, documents and/or digital pictures of your collection, please contact us for information on the best way to accomplish this.

The Weyburn Fire Department continues to look for any documents, accoutrements, uniform articles, photographs and anything else associated with its History. This includes the Weyburn Fire Brigade and any other historical information you may have pertaining to the City of Weyburn.
We would like all submissions to be in an electronic format. If you do not have access to the technology necessary please contact us and he will make arrangements to convert it. We do not want the original document, photograph or item. All images will credit the contributor.
Old photos and documents - If your photos are in a photo album simply scan the pages one at a time; don't worry about the white between the photos. If you can, identify the photos in a basic form: date, people, and activity. If the information is already hand written on the photo; this is all the better. Please identify the photos to the best of your ability. Settings for your scanner - jpeg file, 600 DPI (dots per inch), don't worry about how large it appears; we can scale it to the exact size.
Digital photos are even easier, simply download to your computer and email them to us, again basic identification goes along way to telling the story.
Guidelines for digital photography:
Ø use the best resolution possible
Ø avoid digital zoom, i.e. 200x zoom or other unrealistic zooms, pixilated images are very poor
Ø the larger the size the better, within reason, e.g.. 3000x2000 .jpg (s) are the best
